1. Who We Are
Paperly is an AI-powered LaTeX editor, resume builder, and academic report generator operated by Gaurav Patil, based in Maharashtra, India. This policy explains what data we collect when you use our service at paperly.in.
2. Data We Collect
Account data: Name, email address, and profile photo via Google OAuth (Firebase Authentication).
Content data: LaTeX documents, resumes, and project reports you create and save in the Service — stored in Firebase Firestore under your user ID.
Usage data: Pages visited, features used, AI request counts — collected via Firebase Analytics and Sentry (error monitoring).
Payment data: Transactions are processed by Razorpay. We store only subscription tier and expiry date — we never see or store your card details.
3. How We Use Your Data
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Service
- To authenticate your identity and manage your subscription
- To send transactional emails (e.g. payment receipts, plan changes)
- To detect and fix bugs and errors via Sentry
- To analyse aggregate usage patterns and improve the product
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your documents to train AI models.
4. AI Processing
When you use AI features, your document content (or relevant portions) is sent to Groq API for processing. This is necessary to generate AI completions, fix errors, and write report chapters. Groq's data processing is governed by their privacy policy. We do not retain AI request payloads beyond the duration of the API call.
5. Data Sharing
We share data only with the service providers necessary to operate Paperly: Google Firebase (auth + database), Razorpay (payments), Groq (AI), Sentry (error monitoring), and Vercel (hosting). All providers are contractually required to protect your data.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account and content data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. Email us at support@paperly.in and we will respond within 7 business days. You may also delete your account directly from account settings.
8. Cookies
We use essential cookies for authentication (Firebase session tokens) and analytics cookies via Firebase Analytics. No third-party advertising cookies are used.
9. Children's Privacy
Paperly is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, contact us immediately.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notice. The “effective date” at the top indicates the latest revision.
